Papillons have a long, silky coat, which needs daily combing and brushing. This breed is an average shedder. Papillons are normally odorless and clean. Keep your Papillon's nails clipped. Teeth tend to accumulate tartar. Therefore, dental care is a very important issue.
Papillons - Exercise Requirements
Papillons are playful little dogs and are willing to run and play with their family. They certainly benefit from regular exercise and training sessions. Papillons do relatively well if they have to stay home often and adjust to the family's routine.
Papillons - Adopting a Dog
If you are planning on adding a toy dog to your family, consider adopting a Papillon. Some of the rescue Papillons have been neglected and abandoned, or even abused. Rescue organizations take time to evaluate these dogs for health and temperamental problems. A potential adopter will have a chance to take advantage of the rescue's experience. Rescue Papillons are spayed or neutered, examined by a vet, and treated for medical conditions before they are placed to permanent homes. If you are interested in adopting one of the rescue Papillons, fill out an application form first. It will help you realize if you and your family are ready for such a step. The rescue organization will have an idea of what kind of household you have, and will find a match accordingly. Make your own research into Papillons and their temperament before you adopt.
